The "We Against Cyberbullying Challenge" for Teachers

In order to introduce peer education to German schools and establish it nationwide, the Digital Heroes are offering a training series on the topic from May 4 to 18, 2021. In the 21-day challenge "Wir gegen Cybermobbing" (We Against Cyberbullying), Digital Heroes speakers will explain to interested educators why the peer idea is crucial for modern teaching formats and provide concrete recommendations for implementation at their schools.

Learning and teaching in schools is constantly evolving - especially due to technical possibilities. Distance learning in the Corona pandemic makes it clear: innovative and digital concepts are needed. Digitale Helden gGmbH from Frankfurt am Main is focusing on peer education, a digital solution for preventing cyberbullying in schools. It wants to get teachers excited about this and is therefore offering a free training series on the subject. The project is supported by the statutory health insurance company vivida bkk.

Why peer education?

The basic idea is to learn at eye level. For example, students pass on their knowledge to other students and thus increase their learning success. This is because young people often find it easier to absorb content from their peers. Another advantage of direct exchange is the promotion of social skills.

The mentoring program helps students to better recognize dangers on the Internet and to help others. 170 schools in nine German states are participating in the mentoring program this school year. That means 20,250 students are working with the Digital Heroes to combat stress in class chats, insults and bullying on the Internet.
