Apply now: Data Protection Media Award DAME enters fifth round

You can still apply for the DAME data protection media award until December 9, 2021. The award, which comes with 3,000 euros in prize money, honors media contributions that explain data privacy in a clear and understandable way and at the same time address the topics and language of their target group. Two special prizes of 1,500 euros each will be awarded again.

Entries of all media genres and forms in the German language are eligible, be they long or short films, reports, print and radio contributions, songs, media platforms, video clips or animations. The Data Privacy Media Award was initiated by the Professional Association of Data Privacy Officers in Germany (BvD) e.V., and has been continued since last year by its non-profit GmbH privacy4people . Interested parties can obtain the application documents at datenschutzmedienpreis.de.

A jury of media and data protection experts will evaluate the entries and select three finalists . Birgit Kimmel and Stefanie Rack are on the DAME jury for klicksafe. Also on the jury is the winner of the DAME 2020, Svea Eckert. For the first time, there is a youth judge who is particularly familiar with addressing young people and young adults. Eric Hohenadel studies industrial engineering, was a member of the klicksafe youth advisory board, participates in international events for klicksafe and is involved in the topic of data protection. The German Donations Council is also represented on the jury for the first time with its chairman Wolfgang Stückemann.

In early 2022, the finalists will be invited to the award ceremony in Berlin, where the winners will be awarded prizes. The criteria for selection are professional presentation, comprehensibility, target-group-specific appeal, and originality.

The Data Protection Media Award (DAME) has been sponsored by the DATEV Foundation Future since November 2018. In addition, the German Donations Council and the Data Protection Foundation endow a special prize of 1,500 euros for the best contribution in a print medium. klicksafe is a media partner of the DAME award.
