NRW State Media Authority launches online platform ZEBRA

How can I recognize fake news and is my child actually old enough to have his or her own cell phone? The need for reliable answers about media use has continued to grow in the wake of the Corona pandemic. Many answers can be found online, but it is not always clear how reputable the sources are. ZEBRA offers reliable answers. It is a service of the Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesanstalt für Medien NRW), thus economically and governmentally independent and committed only to freedom of opinion.

Under the patronage of the German UNESCO Commission, the State Media Authority NRW presented its new ZEBRA consulting platform website. In the future, citizens will get individual answers to their questions in connection with digital media there. Partners of the new service are the Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Ministry for Schools and Education of North Rhine-Westphalia, jugendschutz.net, the advisory platform JUUUPORT e.V. and the EU initiative klicksafe.

The focus of ZEBRA is on individual advice. Citizens can address their questions anonymously to the experts at the NRW Media Authority. Together with the partners of the service, ZEBRA guarantees to answer all questions reliably and securely. The answers are also published in anonymous form on the ZEBRA website. In this way, in addition to personal advice, a constantly growing knowledge database is created in which users can also search for suitable answers themselves.
