Prevention campaign by JUUUPORT and DigitalSchoolStoryWith short videos against cyberbullying & Co.

JUUUPORT e.V. and the non-profit educational start-up DigitalSchoolStory (DSS) are combining their strengths for a prevention offensive from the coming school year 2024/25. DigitalSchoolStory's creative TikTok learning method conveys the youth-friendly content and tips on problems on the Internet from the JUUUPORT advice and education platform.

With the new prevention offensive, both initiatives want to encourage pupils to become active themselves, raise awareness in their own school community and sensitize fellow pupils with the specially created short video formats.

With JUUUPORT young people can find help if they have problems online. People seeking advice on topics such as cyberbullying, sexual harassment or media addiction contact us every day. In addition to online advice, JUUUPORT also carries out active prevention work, e.g. through guides on the website and educational videos on social networks.

Just how useful the peer-to-peer principle is can be seen in JUUUPORT's day-to-day work: "Young people help their peers as equals with problems on the internet. They know from their own experience what dangers their peers can encounter online. The DigitalSchoolStory learning method is a contemporary way for young people to engage with important content directly at school in a creative way. We provide this content - including tips and information on cyberbullying, cybergrooming and media addiction. And we show young people where they can find help and advice if they are affected themselves," says Lea Römer, spokesperson for JUUUPORT e.V.

If possible, the pupils should create the videos in groups during regular school lessons using the DigitalSchoolStory learning method. With the help of JUUUPORT's information materials on the respective topic , they discuss in depth with each other in small groups and develop their story. In this way, they jointly develop the content basis for the video production. In this way, they not only engage intensively with the topic, but also acquire skills such as agile working, teamwork, democratic discourse skills and storytelling.

For its method, the non-profit start-up DigitalSchoolStory specifically uses the skills young people have acquired in their private lives in dealing with video platforms such as TikTok for school lessons. With the DigitalSchoolStory method, curriculum topics from mathematics to German from the entire range of regular school lessons can be dealt with in a didactically captivating and mobilizing way. By the end of 2024, over 10,000 pupils across Germany will have successfully worked with the method. "We believe that the offer is interesting for all types of schools from grade 5 onwards and is a great opportunity to strengthen the resilience and self-efficacy of each individual young person," says Nina Mülhens, co-founder and managing director of DSS.
