Fit for the InternetNew "Genial Digital" offer

The new "Genial digital" website from the Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk is aimed at children of primary school age. It comprises three themed modules and three interactive learning modules. Important questions about children's digital lives are answered in a fun and informative way. The aim is to teach children how to navigate the internet safely using smartphones and tablets.

The child-friendly digital offer "Genial digital" deals with the use of search engines, digital games and social networks. It also covers topics such as respectful communication, responsible use of data and recognizing fake news. Children can playfully test their knowledge using interactive learning modules and solve tasks with the help of multimedia content.

The individual modules can be used intuitively and independently by children. Educational embedding is also possible. Like the "Genial Digital" magazine, all modules are aimed at children aged eight to eleven and are therefore suitable for use in both elementary school and after-school care centers. But parentscan also find tips and suggestions on how to help their children get online.

The offer was presented by Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk at the start of the new school year. It was created in collaboration with the Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Multimedia-Diensteanbieter (FSM) and the children's search engine fragFINN.de. These organizations have been working together in the field of media literacy education since 2017. With "Genial digital" they were additionally supported by O2 Telefónica.

To enable you to plan your lessons efficiently, all units are clearly structured and can be implemented quickly. The aim of the 12 units is to raise pupils' awareness of the risks and opportunities associated with their use so that they can act more confidently and safely online.

The new leaflet "Media-safe at school" offers parents of primary school children practical tips and advice on how they can make their children's media consumption age-appropriate and safe.
