New portal: WISSEN-HILFT-SCHÜTZEN.DE
Whether in the family, at school or at the sports club: More than one million children and young people in Germany are affected by sexual violence*. Sexual violence through digital media is an increasing danger for adolescents. The anonymity of the Internet makes it easy for perpetrators to get in touch with minors. They are often unable to recognize and assess the dangers properly. To prevent this and to learn how to deal with sexual assault, they need protection and support, from educational professionals, but also from parents.
Pilot for prevention material
The new portal WISSEN-HILFT-SCHÜTZEN.DE of the Independent Commissioner on Child Sexual Abuse helps to better protect children and young people in the digital world. The portal is aimed at caregivers, educators, social workers and teachers. WISSEN-HILFT-SCHÜTZEN.DE is also aimed at parents.
It offers an overview of prevention materials on media education and violence prevention, as well as training, help and advice services. The materials are each explained in short descriptions and refer to the publishers with a click. All of the portal's information materials, such as flyers, videos or brochures, have been screened by prevention experts and categorized for the portal according to target groups (e.g. children, young people or parents) and topics (e.g. sexting, cyberbullying or perpetrator strategies).
