Tracking down tricksters with SWR Fakefinder Kids

Children can find it difficult to correctly assess advertising, image manipulation or chain letters on the Internet. To make them aware of these topics on the web, there is the interactive learning game SWR Fakefinder Kids. Here, children can playfully learn to recognize false information on social media platforms and in messengers.

Many children are already on social networks with smartphones or tablets in elementary school and use messenger services such as WhatsApp. In the process, they may also come across manipulative content. It is therefore important to prepare them for these situations and train their media skills.

Where is advertising in it? Where is there trickery in the picture? Where is a nasty chain letter being sent? In the interactive learning game Fakefinde Kids for children in third grade and above, you can test your skills using content from the YouTube, TikTok and Whatsapp platforms. The fictional characters Mona and Henri accompany users through the game and provide helpful additional information. In this way, children can playfully find out when and how cheating takes place. In the four different game rounds (advertising, picture tricks, chain letter and super level), users can unmask trickery in order to become a Fakefinder superstar.

To go with the interactive learning game, there is also a material package for teachers that includes worksheets and tips on handling and use.

Apart from the offer for children, SWR also offers a Fakefinder for everyone aged 14 and over. There is also a special offer for school classes.
