The first Safer Internet Day was held on February 8, 2004, at the initiative of the European Union . At that time, 14 countries participated in the day of action. The very next year, Safer Internet Day (SID) was coordinatedby klicksafe for the first time in Germany. In the meantime, klicksafe.de registers more than 250 Safer Internet Day events in Germany every year, and the day of action is celebrated in more than 180 countries worldwide.
With changing focus topics around media literacy and Internet safety, SID has made it its mission to raise awareness and educate. To this end, we call on various institutions, organizations, associations, companies, as well as schools and private individuals to participate. The annual press events with prominent supporters from the fields of politics, journalism, research and entertainment received special attention.
The focus is always on the question of how we can network and work together to make the Internet a better place for everyone. make the Internet a better place for everyone.
