Participation desired

Traditionally, klicksafe initiates and coordinates the activities for Safer Internet Day (SID) in Germany and this year focuses on the topic "Idols on the net. Influencers & Power of opinion". On Safer Internet Day, all interested parties are cordially invited to follow the diverse information online, for example, under the hashtags #SaferInternetDay, #SID2020 #checkwemdufolgst , to like and share posts, or to create their own posts and thus help raise awareness for topics related to a better Internet. The FSM will publish a quiz for Safer Internet Day(www.fsm.de/sid-quiz) in which participants can test their knowledge of online safety and youth protection. In addition, the eco complaints office will provide recommendations for action for a safer Internet as part of a social media campaign, supporting the hashtag #checkwemdufolgst of the Safer Internet Association. An overview of other projects, campaigns and opportunities to get involved can be found on the campaign page for the SID 2020 www.klicksafe.de/sid .

With over 1,100 member companies, eco is the largest association of the Internet industry in Europe. Since 1995, we have played a key role in shaping the development of the Internet in Germany, promoting new technologies, infrastructures and markets, and shaping framework conditions. The protection of minors has been an important topic for eco since 1996. At that time, the Internet Content Task Force (ICTF) was founded with the aim of preventing the dissemination of illegal content and content harmful to minors on the Internet. This evolved into the eco complaints office, which has been operated by eco for around 20 years. Since 2004, the complaints office has also been accessible via the web portal internet-beschwerdestelle.de , which is operated jointly with the Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Multimedia (FSM) and has also been part of the German Safer Internet Centre since 2008.
