Researching for homework, relaxing while streaming or gaming, and maintaining contacts via social media at the same time: The Internet as a natural and daily companion in the everyday life of students enriches and facilitates many things. At the same time, high media consumption increases the risk of coming into contact with content that is not age-appropriate or harmful to minors. Particularly in the area of sexual violence, children and young people are exposed to a wide range of dangers. Phenomena such as cybergrooming, sexting or the distribution of child pornography pose new challenges for prevention.
As part of the Safer Internet Day 2023 on February 7, the Rhineland-Palatinate Police University will inform teachers and parents about current developments in the area of sexual violence in the digital space. In addition to information about the punishability of certain phenomena and how to deal with prohibited files, options for action in the context of prevention will also be presented.
