Erotic or pornographic photos on cell phones? Porn films for 11-year-olds? Pressure to perform in sexuality? Sexting, cyberstalking and sexualized violence in the digital space?

Topics that children come into contact with and should not. WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat are among the most popular apps for children. They offer great opportunities to interact with each other and express themselves creatively. However, according to the providers' terms of use, the apps are only permitted from the age of 13 or even 16 at the earliest. There are good reasons for this. Even younger children can unintentionally access content that is not suitable for them by using the apps. Content that can be developmentally harmful and frightening.

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, we want to address the topic of "Sexuality and boundary violations in the digital space". After an introduction to the topic, participants will exchange ideas in the workshops "Pornography", "Self-presentation online", "Sexting & Cybergrooming". They will also be shown ways of talking to their children about this topic. Afterwards, the results of the workshops will be presented and discussed in plenary.

The event is aimed at parents and educational professionals from the district of Erlangen-Höchstadt. Free information material will be available for all visitors to the event. As the number of visitors is limited, interested parties must register for the information event. You can also choose which workshop you would like to attend. The registration form will be available from 16.01.2024. The registration deadline is 29.01.2024.
