European Cyber Security Action Month launches

Every year, October is dedicated to cyber security throughout Europe on the occasion of European Cyber Security Month (ECSM). This month of action is coordinated in Germany by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). The BSI has already been able to win over more than one hundred organizations and institutions as partners. Over the next four weeks, they will be addressing the topic of cyber security in webinars, video series and awareness campaigns.

The two main topics of this year's ECSM are "First aid for digital emergencies" and "Secure digital home". Throughout Germany, consumers are to be made aware of the risks involved in online shopping, for example. As part of the joint national information and awareness campaign on IT security for consumers by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) #einfachaBSIchern, the BSI is providing information on how to protect shopping accounts and fake shops.

The BSI podcast "Update available" looks at security when paying online. Listeners can find out more about the ECSM from "Cybersnacs", the podcast of the Alliance for Cyber Security.

Participate in the ECSM Action Month

This year, the BSI is once again calling on institutions from government, business and society to participate in European Cyber Security Month. All organizations that communicate the topic of cyber security to a broad audience can participate. This can be done publicly, for example through presentations for private users, information tours at marketplaces or social media campaigns. However, non-public events such as staff training sessions can also be registered with the BSI.

Anyone wishing to participate can fill out this registration form online. An overview of all the campaigns already registered in Germany can be found on the BSI website.
