NEW: Brochure "Using Smartphones Confidently

Is there such a thing as cell phone addiction? Which apps do young people prefer to use and where do cost traps lurk? The newly published brochure by Mobilsicher in cooperation with klicksafe addresses questions that parents, teachers and other caregivers ask when it comes to smartphone use by young people and children.

The smartphone is an integral part of everyday life for young people in Germany. In 2018, 99 percent of young people between the ages of 12 and 19 owned such a device (mpfs.de, JIM Study 2018). But the right way to use them is not self-evident. Just as children learn from parents and other role models how the road works, which rules apply and how to move around safely, they also need experienced role models for the digital world. The Mobilsicher brochure in cooperation with klicksafe helps adults prepare for this task.

In six chapters, the publication deals with topics that are especially relevant for young users, such as cell phone addiction, cyberbullying, pornography consumption and sexting, hate and violence on cell phones, data security, cost traps, theft, and violation of privacy through apps.

Based on current figures and studies, the brochure provides answers to the questions: How big are the problems really? Who is affected? Where are the legal boundaries ? There are also tips on possible measures, references to contacts and further information. With the exercises and fact sheets, teachers can compile content individually for lessons, youth groups or families and cut out or print it out. For most topics, you can find further information and instructions at klicksafe.de and mobilsicher.de.

The brochure is now available in the klicksafe ordering system and can also be downloaded free of charge as a PDF.
